Jana Finlayson
With deep empathy, sensitivity, and a lifelong curiosity about the human mind, I have found a meaningful and fulfilling path in counselling — a profession that truly makes my heart sing. It took time to discover this calling, but my journey through, education, office work, counselling training, personal growth and life experience, has given me the open-minded perspective I now bring to supporting others on their unique journeys.
About me
Having lived in six foreign countries over more than 20 years — and since 2016, in France near the Swiss border with Geneva — I bring a rich, multicultural perspective to my work. These experiences, along with overcoming personal challenges, have shaped me into a more compassionate, conscious, and non-judgmental practitioner. Seeking support from mental health professionals myself has shown me the power of being truly seen and heard — and inspired me to offer the same to others.
Therefore, I believe in the healing power of a safe, trusting, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship. This is the foundation I strive to create for every client. I am also committed to ongoing professional development through supervision, seminars, and continuing education.
Outside of my work, I am a mother to one child, who is one of my greatest teachers — as are all the people I have met in my life, including my clients. I find balance through cycling, dancing, hiking, reading, travelling, and listening to music. I nurture my inner life through meditation and yoga, and by exploring wisdom from diverse traditions - Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, and others - which continuously inspire reflection and compassion.
